Construction began around 1916, but the work was interrupted by the death of its owner, Jo\u00e3o L\u00facio, a lawyer and poet, in 1918.<\/p>\n<p>The Jo\u00e3o L\u00facio Chalet is a rotating house with a circular plan, lacking a rear facade, and therefore also a main facade. The squaring of the circle, present in various systems of thought, gives this house, among other elements, a strong symbolic charge. Access is via four stairs distributed around the cardinal points: the northern staircase is shaped like a fish, the southern one like a guitar, the eastern one like a violin, and the western one like a snake.
