Visit the Olhão Municipal Museum and discover the history of our beautiful city.
The Olhão Maritime Commitment currently houses the City Museum. It is a building of great historical value and deserves a visit not only because of its own history but also because it displays several temporary or permanent exhibitions throughout the year on topics related to the city and the municipality.
Created between 1768 and 1771, it was built to support the city’s fishermen and had a pharmacy and a butcher’s shop on the ground floor for the service of seafarers. The noble floor housed the Dispatch Room, which features a wooden ceiling painting highlighting the coat of arms of the Portuguese royal arms.
